I got this recipe from the Heritage Quilters. Boy was I surprised to find out this delicious soup had turnips as one of the main ingredients. I am one of the first people to turn my nose up at turnips but this soup will surprise.
Ingredients
2 c turnips, sliced
1 c potato, sliced
1 small onion, sliced
3 tbs butter
1 1/2 tbs flour
3 c chicken stock
1 c milk
parsley (optional)
bacon, crumbled (optional)
crouton (optional)

Instructions
1. Place turnips, potatoes, and onions in saucepan.
2. Cover with small amount of water and simmer until tender; drain.
3. Mash with potato masher.
4. Add butter.
5. Mix flour with 1/4 c milk.
6. Add to mixture and blend well.
7. Add chickstock.
8. Mix thoroughly.
9. Return to heat and bring to boil.
10. Remove from heat and add remaining 3/4 c milk.
11. Garnish with your choice of parsley, bacon or croutons.
