Orange Slice Cake by

Ingredients
1 cup butter
2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
3 1/2 cups plain flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1 small pkg. dates (cut fine)
1 cup nuts (chopped)
1 lb. orange slices (cut up fine)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 cup

Instructions
Cream butter, sugar. Add eggs one at a time, Sift together flour, baking power, salt and soda. Add to creamed mixture alone with butter, milk and mix well. Next add dates, nuts and orange slices. Add vanilla last. Bake in tube pan 1 1/2 hrs. at 350 degrees.
Topping
1 small can frozen orange juice
1 1/2 cups sugar
Bring to boil and cool for one minute. Pour over cake while hot. Let cool in pan several hours or over night.
