Apple Spice Cake with Caramel Frosting by

If using white cake mix, double spices.
Ingredients
Cake:
1 box spice cake mix
1 21oz can apple pie filling
1/2 c water
2 eggs, beaten
2 t rum extract
1 t cinnamon
1/2 t ground ginger
1/8 t cloves
1/4 t allspice
1/4 t nutmeg
raisins (optional)
2/3 c canola oil
2/3 c chopped pecans
Icing:
1/2 c butter
1 c packed brown sugar
1/4 t salt
6T milk
3 cups powdered sugar
1 box

Instructions
Cake:
By hand, mix the cake mix, apple pie filling, and water. Stir in the remaining cake ingredients and mix well. Pour into prepared 13x9" pan and bake at 350 for 40-50 min. Cool completely.
Icing:
Melt butter in saucepan, stir in brown sugar and salt. Bring to a boil and boil 2 min. Remove from heat and add the milk, stirring constantly.
Return to heat and boil again. Remove from heat and cool until lukewarm, 20-25 min. Stir in the powdered sugar and beat until smooth and cool enough to spread. Add more milk if too thick.
