Ingredients for homemade buttermilk biscuits

2 cups of self-rising flour

8 tablespoons of cold butter- 1 stick

2/3 cup of cold buttermilk
double the recipe

4 cups of self-rising flour

16 tablespoons of cold butter -2 sticks

1 1/3 cups of cold buttermilk
triple the recipe

6 cups of self-rising flour

24 tablespoons of cold butter- 3 sticks

2 cups of cold buttermilk
Au gratin potatoes and beef ingredients

1-2 boxes of Au gratin potatoes depending on how many people you are feeding

If one box then 2 cups of very hot water, 1/2 of milk, and 2 tablespoons of butter.

If two boxes then 4 cups of water, 2 cups of milk, and 4 tablespoons of butter
1-2 pounds of ground beef
Green beans-1-2 cans, or 1-2 bags of frozen green beans depending on how many people you are feeding and butter for the beans

flour for parchment paper to roll out the dough

fork to mix the dough

biscuit cutter or round cookie cutter small

measuring cup

measuring spoons
supplies for ground beef and Au gratin potatoes

large pot with lid

frying pan

measuring cup

Bowl with aluminum foil to drain the grease it's an awesome hack

butter

hot water

seasoning for the beef
supplies for the green beans

1-2 bags of steamable green beans and a container with a lid to put them in

or 1-2 cans of green beans

pot for green beans with a lid

butter for the beans

seasoning of your choice for the green beans

spoon to stir green beans
directions for the buttermilk biscuits

preheat oven to 400 or 204 c

in your mixing bowl add 2,4, or 6 cups of flour depending on if you are doubling or tripling the recipe

1 stick, two sticks, or 3 sticks of butter depending on if you are doubling or tripling the recipe

and 2/3, 1 1/3, or 2 cups of buttermilk depending on if you are doubling or tripling the recipe

Add the cold butter either cubed or grated to the flour and cut with the pastry cutter until the butter is pea-sized and the flour looks like course crumbs

Add in the cold buttermilk and mix with a fork until the dough pulls away from the bowl and it is all incorporated together it will look shaggy

Add a bit of flour to a large piece of parchment paper and add the dough to it coating it in the flour so it won't stick kneed the dough ten times.

Pat the dough into a rectangle and fold it over itself like a letter five times this way you get layered flaky biscuits

Use a round cookie cutter or biscuit cutter to cut out the biscuits do not twist to remove the dough just pull up. repeat the process until all of the dough is gone.

Put biscuits on a cookie sheet an inch apart and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown


Directions for the au gratin potatoes ina large pot add sauce mix, hot water, milk, butter, and potatoes.

Bring to a boil. Once boiling set on low for 15 minutes and until potatoes are soft.
When the potatoes are about halfway done cook your ground beef and season and drain and set aside.

Once potatoes are done remove from heat and let thicken for 5 minutes.

Add the ground beef mixture and stir to combine.
Directions cook your green beans according to the directions and add butter and seasoning .
Plate everything , serve and enjoy
