Ingredients
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
pinch salt
1 egg
2 egg yolks
1/2 cup sour cream
1 stick soften butter
1 tablespoon vanilla extract (or substitute for a flavor of choice)
OPTIONAL * 1/2 cup cocoa powder if you want a chocolate cake
*FROSTING*
1 stick soften butter
1/2 stick shortening
3 1/2 cups powder sugar
few table spoons milk to thin out if you don't want frosting so thick
2 teaspoon vanilla (or flavor of your choice)
OPTIONAL *1/4 cup cocoa powder(if no cocoa powder use instant
chocolate pudding mix)

Instructions
Preheat oven to 350.
Sift flour, salt and baking soda/powder into a mixing bowl. Add soften butter, sugar, egg, egg yolk, salt, vanilla, and sour cream. (If using cocoa powder, add this step as well).
Cream mixture until there are no lumps and looks nice and silky. Line cupcake pan with cupcake papers and fill half full. Place in oven for 20 minutes. Make sure done, by inserting a toothpick to come out clean if you can't tell by looking at it as every oven is different.
Makes approximately 14 cupcakes.
*FROSTING*
Cream butter/shortening with vanilla. Add powder sugar a cup at a time until blended well.
