Beef and Beer Stew by

Ingredients

1/2 cup finely chopped bacon
3 lbs. beef stew meat or venison
3 lg. onions, sliced
3 T. Paprika
1 T. Salt
1 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 tsp. marjoram
2 12 oz. cans of beer
1 cup water
1 sm. can tomato paste
1 T. Worcestershire sauce
4 lg. potatoes, cubed
6 carrots or parsnips, thickly sliced

Instructions

Cook bacon in a lg. pot until crisp. Add meat, cook and stir over med. heat until lightly browned. Remove meat. Reduce heat to med. and add onions. Cook until tender. Return meat to pot and add seasonings, beer, water, paste and Worcestershire . Stir to mix. Cover and simmer until beef is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
Add vegetables, cover and simmer until veggies are tender, about 45 minutes.
