Ingredients
Cake:
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
8 large apples, pared and chopped
2 c. flour
1/2 t. salt
2 t. soda
1/2 t. cinnamon
1 t. nutmeg
Sauce:
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. cream
1 c. sugar
1 t. vanilla
1/2 t. rum flavoring

Instructions
Combine cake ingredients and bake at 350 degrees for about 1 hour.
For sauce, bring butter, cream and sugar to a boil. Add vanilla and rum flavoring. Serve warm on top of cake.
