Ingredients
Biscuit dough (or 2 c. Bisquick + 1/2 water):
1-3/4 c. flour
2-1/2 t. baking powder
3/4 t. salt
1/3 c. shortening or margarine
3/4 c. milk
2 cans tuna, drained
1 c. cheddar cheese, grated
Cheese sauce:
1/4 c. margarine
1/4 c. flour or Bisquick
1/4 t. salt
1/8 t. pepper
2 c. milk
1 c. cheddar cheese, grated.
Instructions
Mix together flour, baking powder and salt.
Cut in shortening or margarine with a pastry cutter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Stir in milk just until dough leaves side of bowl and rounds up into a ball.
Turn dough onto lightly-floured surface.
Knead lightly 10 times.
Roll out biscuit dough into rectangle, 15" x 10" and spread with tuna and cheddar cheese. Roll up, beginning at long side. With sealed side down, shape into ring on greased baking sheet; pinch ends together. Make cuts 2/3 or the way through ring at 1" intervals, and turn each section to show filling. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes. If desired, top with cheese sauce when serving.
To make the cheese sauce, melt margarine over medium heat. Blend in flour or Bisquick, salt and pepper and cook over low heat, stirring until smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat; stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly, and boil and stir for 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir in cheese until melted.
