Cincinatti Chili by Jonathan

Ingredients

2 lbs ground beef 1 large onion, finely chopped 6 garlic cloves, finely chopped 6 bay leaves 1 tsp cinnamon 3 tsp allspice 1 tsp ground cumin 1/2 tsp crushed red pepper 1 1/2 tsp salt 3 tbsp chili powder 1 tsp oregano 1 tsp thyme 4 tsp vinegar 2 tsp beef base 1 cup burgundy 4 cups water 6 oz tomato paste 16 oz kidney beans, drained (optional) Served With: 1 lb vermicelli 1 onion, chopped cheddar cheese sour cream

Instructions

Brown ground beef in a dutch oven and drain grease. Add chopped onion and garlic, and cook until onion is softened. Add all remaining ingredients and simmer under low heat for 3-4 hours. Serve over vermicelli, topped with cheese, onion and sour cream.
