Sweet Pickles by

Ingredients
5 gal. small cucumbers
2-1/2 gal. water
4 c. salt
1-1/2 gal. white vinegar
15 lb. (30 c.) sugar
1 t. oil of cloves
1/4 t. oil of cinnamon
1 oz. benzoate of soda (optional)
Instructions
Wash cucumbers and put in water with salt. Let stand 10 days, then drain and pour over them vinegar, oils and soda.
Let stand another 10 days, then add sugar at a rate of 3 c. a day for 10 days. Stir after each addition.
