Buttermilk Drop Biscuits by
Ingredients
3 Cups Flour
1 Tbs. Baking Powder
1 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tbs. Sugar
3/4 Tsp. Salt
1 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
8 Tbs. Butter
Instructions
Heat oven to 475 with rack in the middle, butter baking sheet.
Mix all dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Grate the butter cube over the flour in layers and mix after each layer breaking up any large lumps, add the Buttermilk and mix with a spatula until batter pulls away from the bowl, batter should be sticky. Roughly divide the batter into twelve balls or use a #12 commercial Disher scoop, drop on to the buttered baking sheet.
Bake for 15 minutes, or until tops are golden brown.
Variations :
Garlic Onion Biscuits: Substitute 1 Tbs. Lawry’s Garlic Salt for salt and add 2 chopped Green Onions.
Garlic Cheese Biscuits: Substitute 1 Tbs. Lawry’s Garlic Salt for salt and add 1 cup of your favorite grated cheese.
Bacon Cheese Biscuits: Substitute 1 Tbs. Lawry’s Garlic Salt for salt and add 1 cup of your favorite grated cheese and 4 slices of crumbled Bacon
Garlic Herb Biscuits: Substitute 1 Tbs. Lawry’s Garlic Salt for salt and 1 Tbs. of your favorite herbs.
